Speaking The Truth

Stephen lived a life full of the grace and power of God. His life acted like a compass needle, pointing the world toward Jesus. His message touched the lives of those around him in a startling way. The men of Stephen’s time reacted negatively when they heard the way Stephen spoke. It was a reaction with which we all struggle. We question how people will respond if we try to talk about Jesus. We worry that people will hear us talk about Jesus and think we are silly or deluded. We are nervous that we might not be able to speak the things that men need to hear. The people around Stephen highlight the reactions we fear when we try to talk about Jesus.

Brother Dick Root talked about Jesus all the time. Because God changed him, he shared that change with everyone he met. I’m grateful that he wasn’t afraid to speak. My brothers and my father are grateful too. Someday my nieces and nephews will hear the story. I’ve shared it with my daughters. So many lives changed by God because one changed by God had the courage to speak the truth and live a fully surrendered life that points to Jesus.
