Complacency

Of all the tactics Satan uses, complacency, being lukewarm, is the one that is a self-inflicted wound. Complacency means to become pleased with ourselves and our accomplishments. It can be equated to pride in that it focuses on self – being “self-satisfied.” In several of Paul’s writings, he encourages us to not be content when it comes to serving the Lord, each other, and combating Satan’s influence. All of us go through periods of complacency where we lose our edge just a bit. There are times when we are very susceptible to Satan.

Complacency is a dangerous tactic that not only affects the individual Christian, but it adversely affects the body. If Satan can cause one of us to become complacent, then he knows that person is removed from the battle. When we are complacent, we are satisfied with our situation and no longer desiring to grow spiritually. We then become an easy target for Satan to attack us at his leisure. We must look closely at our lives and determine if we are becoming complacent.
