Showing Jesus Christ

Fingerprints have become familiar to us through novels, television, and documentaries. Entire cases for criminal activity or missing persons can be built around fingerprint evidence. In Acts 11, we are presented with a fingerprint. As Barnabas travels to Antioch in Syria, he is investigating reports about a church that shines. He wants to know why and how this church has taken hold and grown in reputation. He finds his answer in the evidence of who the church is and how they are driven to show Jesus Christ.

People are drawn to the cross. When we join the work of the Holy Spirit in showing Jesus Christ to the world, we commit to lift Jesus up, live out His nature and character, and shine as lights in the darkness so that people will respond. The church and the Holy Spirit want the world to study the lives of those who are defined by Jesus, be drawn to the cross, and surrender to Him. When we are hungry to know Him, committed to looking like Jesus, and have responsive hearts, we will be able to show Jesus Christ to the world and help them see the evidence of the grace of God in our lives. The world will never be the same, and neither will we.
