LIVING LIKE JESUS: Laying up Treasure

We learn early in life that money is valuable and having “things” is important. There is nothing wrong with “thing” in themselves or in having “things.” It all depends on how we use them. It should not surprise us then that much of Jesus’ teaching was concerned with money and possessions and how they could be used

Living like Jesus means using our possessions in the right way. It is a simpler lifestyle. It involves living with fewer things, only buying what we really need, and using things until they wear out rather than discarding them because we have grown tired of them. It is having the right priorities and putting first things first. It is using our possessions for God rather than for ourselves, and laying up treasure in heaven rather than on earth.
