Ignorance

The word ignorance conjures up unpleasant images. None of us wants to be thought of as ignorant. Yet all of us have been and are ignorant of many things to varying degrees. Ignorance is not necessarily a bad thing, but it is something that we want to move beyond. Ignorance has been described as a stronghold of Satan’s kingdom of darkness. For Satan, ignorance is a stronghold of destructive darkness.

We all can overcome ignorance enough to obey the Gospel and live faithful lives. “Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent,” (Acts 17:30, NASB). “All people.” That’s you and I. It is through the Word of God that we are able to develop knowledge of God’s will and to overcome ignorance of Satan. It is part of our mission as God’s people to overcome ignorance in our own lives and to help others overcome their ignorance of God’s will.
