Go Share Compassion
In Matthew 9, the apostles are asked, “‘Why is your Teacher eating with tax-gatherers and sinners?’” (NASB, Matthew 9:11). Jesus understood what it was to see people with flaws, imperfections, and damage. He also understood that He had the power to fix any flaw or imperfection, no matter how big. As John Haddington once said, “I have been comforted for more than twenty years by the thought that Jesus welcomes, not only sensible sinners, but stupid ones as well.”
Humanity bears the mark of a flawed, imperfect, or damaged tag. Yet Jesus paid the full price so that we might be made perfect. Actually, He overpaid. As a result, He is calling us to do more than simply show up at Sunday morning assemblies and leave our offering. Rather, He is calling us to go and show compassion to others the same as He showed it to us – even if it means overpaying.
