Devoted to Fellowship
One of the most iconic images of young love and the joy it brings is that of a young couple sharing a milkshake with each other. This quiet, intimate image is a powerful picture of fellowship, that of sharing time with each other doing something they both enjoy. The sweetness of the dessert is overshadowed by the sweetness of their time together. Such is at the heart of our fellowship with one another; a sharing together of what brings us joy, our common bond of being in the family of God. “They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common,” (Acts 2:42-44, NASB).
There are gifts and privileges associated with being a child of God. Among these is being in the Body. The fellowship we experience with one another and with God enables us to overcome the barriers we all face as we grow spiritually. By being there for one another and participating in the body, we can grow and help others grow.
