As we begin our journey to Christlikeness, we can describe ourselves as seekers. A seeker is someone searching to discover God’s will for his or her life. It might be someone who has never discovered God’s love or it might be someone who lost his way from that loving relationship with the Father and is seeking the way home. There are many reasons why one becomes a seeker and begins his spiritual journey. Generally, they fall into three categories:

  1. A Significant Life Event

  2. Realization of Insufficiency

  3. Awareness of the Need for Salvation

A seeker is one hungering and thirsting for righteousness. We all start as seekers, and as our Lord promised, we will be satisfied. But the initial seeking and finding God are just the beginning. As we continue to develop spiritually, the seeking for even greater awareness and relationship with God should continue. Discovery leads to more desire to seek and more discovery. It is a positive cycle of spiritual growth.
